Tech advice

Plain-language tech advice for small businesses

A second opinion on a quote. A sounding board before you commit to a new system. A straight answer with no project attached. Sometimes the most useful thing is someone who knows the technology and has nothing to sell you.

Questions we often help with

Is this quote reasonable?

You've been offered a website, an app or an IT contract. We'll read it and tell you what's normal, what's missing and what to ask.

Which software should we use?

Scheduling, invoicing, email, file sharing. We'll compare a few that fit your size and how you work.

Are we set up safely?

Passwords, backups, who has access to what, and what happens if a laptop goes missing.

Where are we losing time?

We map how work moves through the business today and point out where time and money leak.

A clear look at how things actually run

For a broader review, we spend time with you and your team, follow a few everyday jobs from start to finish, and write up what we see: what's working, what's worth changing, and in what order. The write-up is yours to act on with us, with someone else, or on your own.

Sometimes the answer is that you don't need anything new. We'll say that too.

Common questions

Do I have to hire you for a project afterwards?

No. Advice is its own service. Many of these conversations end with a short note and no project.

Can you talk to my current IT person or vendor?

Yes, with your permission. We're happy to work alongside whoever you already have.

Can we meet in person?

Yes, by appointment in Charlotte and nearby towns, or online if that's easier.

Tell us what you're trying to do.

The first conversation is free and lasts about thirty minutes. If we're not the right fit, we'll tell you. The person you talk to is the person who builds it.
